Agents of The Imperium

Good evening! Just back from a long and fruitful day in the studio, recording quite a 'challenging' (again!) non-fiction audio book, details of which should follow quite soon; next month in fact, which could be the biggest month for new releases I've ever had - we shall see!

So a quick mention now of this audio anthology from the Black Library, in which I appear to be quite heavily involved. Here's the title and some further details:

Agents Of The Imperium

A Warhammer 40,000 audio drama anthology

Across the Imperium, many heroes serve mankind in their own ways. Assassins, soldiers, inquisitors – each does their duty, but in the grim darkness of the far future, that may not be enough to save their souls…

In the sprawling Imperium of Mankind, everyone serves the Emperor in their own way. From the inquisitors who hunt the hidden enemies of humanity in the dark places of the galaxy to the brave soldiers who stand on the front line, and the Imperial Assassins who can change the tides of war with a single shot, each has a part to play in preserving the Imperium.

In this audio anthology, three of these disparate heroes are put to the test, each facing a personal crisis that will see them either fall to darkness, or rise to continue doing their duty in the Emperor's name.

Judge of the Wastes by David Annandale
Kill Shot by Ben Counter
The Interrogation of Salvor Lermentov by Chris Wraight

Performed by Tom Alexander, John Banks, Cliff Chapman, Emma Gregory, Matthew Hunt, Deeivya Meir, David Seddon and Joe Shire

Produced by Matt Renshaw

Total running time: 66 minutes

It's getting late, so a quick bite to eat for me and then back to more prep for tomorrow; day two of a scheduled four to record this week's audio book, so I'm afraid that's...

...all for now; more just as soon as it happens!

Cryptozoic!

Good afternoon and welcome!

'Cryptozoic', a slice of classic British science fiction from 1967, now available in audio book format and narrated by me - but what does 'cryptozoic' mean? Apparently: "...of or relating to that part of geological time represented by rocks in which the evidence of life is slight and the life forms are primitive". Ok, good!

Cryptozoic!

In the year 2093, human consciousness has expanded to the point that man can visit the past using a technique called 'mind-travelling'. Artist Edward Bush returns from a lengthy 'trip' to the Jurassic period to find the government overthrown by an authoritarian regime.

Given his mind-travel experience, he is recruited by the new regime to track down and assassinate a scientist whose ideas threaten to topple the status quo. However, the job of an artist is not to take orders but to ask questions.

Produced for Audible Studios by Neil Gardner & Narrated by John Banks

Length: 7 hours - 3 minutes

So, "what's happening?" I hear you ask. Well, as previously hinted at, I'm now spending a lot of time in the studio, having had a couple of weeks of very intesive preparation. This is my third straight week of recording with two books done and a third to start the week after next. The second of the two books I've been working on, was a very tricky and challenging read; a long (40+ hours non-fiction) which featured quite a bit of French pronunciation and which I'm hoping sounds reasonably authentic.

I'm pleased by the fact that the book was recorded in seven days, rather than the scheduled ten, which goes to show how valuable thorough prep can be. As a consequence, I now have some time to catch up on 'life' and update my blog (!) and Linked in page etc.

Having carved out a niche of time also means that I can start to prep the next book, also a non-fiction, though I think a little mental time-out might be just what the doctor had in mind, before I get back to work!

There's lots of interesting stuff in the pipeline and I hope you'll check back to see what's coming. In the meantime, that's...
